Beckett's Birthday...

Yesterday was Beckett's 2nd birthday! We can't believe our baby boys is already two. He has quite a personality and our home wouldn't be the same without him. He is always one step behind Payson, loving to copy and learn everything from his big brother. His speech and understand is so far beyond where Payson was at this age that sometimes it is hard to believe he is only two. He loves to ride his bike and insists on carrying around his hockey stick. He can already count to 13, but is pretty stubborn when it comes to naming his colors. Compared to Payson and Irelyn, he rarely gets sick and isn't plagued by ear infections like his siblings. We love him so much and look forward to what the next year holds for him.

I tried to get him to look at the camera by asking
where my nose was and he pointed to his own.

Arizona 2012...

Last week, Irelyn and I flew to Arizona for 5 days. We went to Phoenix to visit my good friend, Meghan, and her girls, Maddison and Reagan. Since I moved away from Arizona, Meghan has come to visit me twice, once in Florida and once in Virginia. Going on this trip was a big deal for me because I have never left my babies for more than a few hours, so the thought of missing out on almost a week of their life was crazy to me. I never did end up crying like I thought I would, but I did miss Paul and the boys constantly. Paul did an awesome job taking care of the boys all by himself. Every time I talked to him, he was either walking the dogs, doing something for the boys, cleaning the house or taking the boys out to do something fun.
While we were in Arizona, I rented a car and stayed in a hotel not too far from my friends house. Irelyn also proved to be an even easier baby than I thought. I chose not to keep her on her regular schedule and she went with the flow everywhere we went. She did great on every flight and even got taken up to first class by a flight attendant. She had lots of fun playing with Meghan's girls and her cousins, who came out from California to see us. Considering the great time we had, I was still very happy to finally be home to see Paul and the boys again.

Every morning, Irelyn sat on the
bathroom counter while I got ready.
Since Irelyn and I were going to be only 7 hours away from California, my brother and his family drove out to Phoenix to see us. I haven't seen them for over a year and a half and they've never met Irelyn. I have also never met their newest baby boy, Derek, who is the same size as Irelyn but 2 months younger. We spent most of Saturday hanging out and letting the babies play together. I really appreciate them making such a quick trip out to see us. Hopefully, they can come visit us soon in New York.

Me and Meghan. I miss her and the girls already.

I also made it a point to visit with my best friends parents who live in Tucson. Gordon and Sonia are very special people to me and I miss them very much. They were happy to drive up to Phoenix to have dinner with us and they were very excited to meet Irelyn.
